Opinions...please...?

OH...kay... I'm terrible at making
decisions.  I've been a bit "down"...a leetle
bit sad about my Asian Stack and Slash.
It's one of the PIPs that I took off the shelf
last week...
I was feeling very disappointed...wanting
to scrap the whole project...

then, a my niece suggested it might
improve with some sashing...
I was feeling a bit better after the sashing...
But, it still seems to need something.  I'm planning
the same size black sash all around.

Should I use corner squares?
In the above pic, there are 3 different fabrics
used...I don't know if I should use different
fabrics ...if, I put corners...
...or should corners all be the same?
...or NO corners at all?

I would LUV...ANY and ALL...
opinions and/or ideas...

Just my 2 cents - just the black sahing with a black border to frame those pretty blocks.

wow, that black sashing really made a difference. Because there are so many beautiful patterns competing for attention I like the idea of a black border to accentuate the fabric in the blocks. it's turning out beautiful Annie!

Annie, that is lovely! I'm loving the way it looks with the sashing strips....I don't think you need the squares, but that is just my opinion. I think it made all the difference - your niece had a great idea! :)

The black sashing really does add a splash ... kudos to your niece. I like the little purple squares too, but that's just me, I see. :)

No cornerstones! Just the black sashing makes it look more Asian - more in keeping with the fabrics. Kind of like one of those rice paper screens. :) blessings, marlene

I liked the sashing and the cornerstones. It brightened up the quilt a little.

I think black sashing and border in black too...it is already a dark quilt..meaning not bright...and that would tie it all together...it looks good though...I like the colors you chose

Annie, I think a black border would add a nice frame. Such pretty colors.

I like the purple corners in the sashing and I think it's ok that they are different fabric as long as you keep them all purple as the 3 you've already done.

We are all going to have different opinions on what to do... cos we all have differing tastes!
Go with what looks best to you... lay black sashing around the outside and look at it... then try laying other bits and bobs around the outside... how does it look to you?

Then do it.. and show us! lol

I'm voting for sashing with cornerstones. I think your purple cornerstones in the sashing make the quilt look less choppy and ties your blocks together. Absolutely beautiful!

Ok one thing you will learn about me. Don't ask my opinion unless you really want to know what I think. I would leave the sashing all black. I would put black around the quilt as a border, maybe twice the size of the sashing then I would make rectangles of the Asian fabrics and sew them end to end and put that next to the black and then another black border. I did something like that with my Jelly Roll AWL quilt if you want to see what I mean. It's your quilt though so you should do what you like the best! It is beautiful!
