please...Paws...take a moment for...

Wonderful...Wednesday!!
I wasn't sure what category to use for today...
until yesterday morning.
I was petting our sweet Bullmastiff (100lb "puppy")...
when a wee small firework went off in mee wee head.
It was only a small firework...
'cause mee brain is too small and...
way too old for big fireworks.
By now...you've probably figured things out...
Today's WonderfulNESS...is about
PETS
Pets can be a BIG part of our families!
For some owners...pets are their ONLY family...
    These sweet animals love us
UNcondtionally!
It doesn't matter how we look, what color we are, or...
where we live...they just LOVE US!!
Some... VERY special "pets"
 are trained for... Animal Therapy.
They visit those in need in hospitals, prisons,
rest homes...anywhere they are needed.
I hope you will take a few minutes...
to watch the following video about these
special animals.

Over the past 3 decades more and more research
has shown that pet assisted therapy can
Lower blood pressure, diminish the need for pain medications,
help patients recover more quickly from illnesses, accidents,
emotional and mental problems.

When I was young our two daschunds and cat
kept me company while my parents both worked.
Our children grew up and enjoyed the company
of animals too.  Currently, there is only "Mr. Wizard"
(aka hubby) and me at home.  While Mr. Wizard is
off to work...I enjoy the company of our pets...
This is our 5 year old Bullmastiff

This is our 9 month old Ragdoll cat.

It's....
YOUR TURN...
If you have (or have had) a favorite family pet...
or two, three, four or more....
please, leave a comment to share
these special animals with us all!

Annie, your 'puppy' is adorable! Thank you for sharing ... oh, and your 'little kitty too!'

Oh, how great. Linda at StrayStitches has 'National Puppy Day' and I have 'Cuddly Kitten Day' - now you have this pet day - purr-fect. Ooops - hairball. I had a wonderful dog who we lost just before his 19th birthday. Many cats over the years (yeah, a farm, there HAS to be cats) - now just the one QUEEN lets me share her home.

Love your cute fur babies! We have a cat that our dog snitched from the litter when the mama cat wasn't looking. We think he was just a couple of hours old...raised him and now he's ten and still thinks I'm his mama! LOL That old dog is still with us, very faithful, and has been joined by a huge Great Pyrenees that came to us. We think someone pushed her out of the car (we live in the country) and left her. We nursed her through Parvo and now she is a big fluffy member of our family. Aren't pets grand? :)

Hi Annie,

Thaks for your "pet post". Just wanted to add my 2 cents about therapy animals. My son has severe disabilites and attends a day program. Every week Dobie, the therapy dog comes to visit the folks at the program. Dobie was abused and would have died if he had not been rescued himself. He now has a chance to provide some much appreciated comfort and happiness to others. My son can't reach down to pet Dobie, so Dobie sits right by his feet and my son rubs his bare feet on Dobie's back. They both quite enjoy that:)
These animals are amazing and such a blessing to those they visit.

Oh, Annie - now you are "singing" my song! Pets are Angels with Fur. I cannot even imagine my life without my fur babies - two miniature schnauzers and one Maine Coon kitty.
I love the following quote my Vet has in his office - isn't it the truth:

"Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
Anatole France

I have two chihuahua mixes. They keep me company on nights when my husband comes home from work late, they cuddle with me when I am watching t.v. and just love me for who I am.

My cat Rimshot was 18 and a half when she passed away. She was my BEST friend and I still miss her every single day. She was an amazing cat. Now we have 5 cats and one dog.

I used to have a bullmastiff that looked just like yours! He weiged around the 130 pound mark and was the best escape artist i ever knew. Im still trying to work out how he got onto our roof to jump into the front garden.

Thanks for linking up to FTF!
