Cut around...tutorial

Have you ever bought a quilty-seweee tool
that just looked really cool...
but,  you weren't exactly...
sure how or when you were going to use it?
...well, then, I must say...
you are a "heal-off-Alot" smarter
than me!

I dunno if you remember or not...but, I really
dislike  hate to do square cornered bindings.
For a loooong time..
('cause, ya know, I've been around since the dinosaurs)
I've just used circular dishes or lids...
whatever size seem to suit to draw square corners
into curved ones.
But, last week, while putting on a binding up in my loft,
I was feeling too lay-zeee to go
downstairs to the kitchen to find something suitable
to use.  My eyes began to scan....the tabletops and walls
for rulers or other items that might give me
a good edge. Then!  Lightening!! Struck...

On the wall...right beside me was a ruler
waving at me saying "pick me! pick me!"
Ok, OH..kay, I'm mumbling as I take it off
the nail.

I drew the lines with pencil and then cut
a half inch larger than the line.  I really do
believe this CUT AROUND is easier
than using a dish...
a "heal-off alot" better!

Check out the video below using this
COOL tool...created by
It makes circles a HOLE lot easier...
you'll see why

kay. so what do you think?
and, would you admit to buying a tool that you still don't use?....or do you have none of those?

I have so many cool tools that never see the light of day it is NOT funny! Neat feet for the sewing machine, bias tape makers, pom pom makers, a straight ruler with lines cut in it just like this round one only....straight! GO! dies (shhhh!) Vintage sewing machines! Baskets full of things I had great plans for! Yep, my name is Penny and I am a sewing gadget collector.

I have several. I have no idea what they are for! They were at least inherited. I think you've inspired a blog post. I could ask people!

I have a smaller version of that, although I was using my rotary cutter in it. oops! my understanding is to cut the circle one size and the hole one size smaller.

Oh, I have several things in my sewing room that are still in their original packaging, sitting unused. Maybe someday..........

You are your usual funny self. Always enjoy your posts. I don't have any extraneous tools yet. Just give me time.

Of course I have tools I haven't used or have forgotten why I even bought them or have no idea how to use them. Your post is great - love the tutorial you added. I'll have to see if I have that tool - now I'll know how to use it....or maybe I need to buy looks fun to use!

Really like that tool for the circles! Amazing how easy it came together.

I think that video clip was great for explaining the process-every ruler/tool should have one! Thanks for sharing this!

I have this tool, but, I've only tried it once, on circles, and didn't like it for the circles. Corners would be great. Thanks.
