My favorite thing about St. Patrick's Day is watching my kids be all concerned about wearing green and being/or not being pinched! We also like to make green pancakes by blending spinach with the milk before mixing them up! (Shhh don't tell the kids that's how we get them to be green!)

MoeWest said...

I'm of Irish descent so I definitely wear the green on St. Paddy's day. I often cook something special like corned beef and cabbage. Now I'm intriqued by Myra's green pancakes so I may try that on Sunday. I also celebrate by toasting my ancestors with a Guiness! Thanks for the giveaway and I'm a follower ;-)

I would love those charm packs!! I usually wear green on St. Patrick's Day, but what I most look forward to is seeing what my daughter comes up with for a green dessert. It's her specialty. (I'm a new follower.)

In high school one of my teachers organized a St Pat's day parade every year. However, March in Wisconsin can bring all kinds of weather so the parade was inside the school. The band would play while marching down the halls and Mr Murphy always rode his green moped. Fun memories. Now I wear green and pretend I am Irish for the day!

Well, I know it sounds funny, but my answer is "fabric!" Since I am a fabricholic and don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day. So, fabric is the only thing that I like about this particular day, at least by looking at them cheers me up a little.

Thank you for the generous giveaway.

quiltmania said...

I like the little bit of green, worn where no one can see it! Have a great day.

I love the leprechaun's pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Haven't found it yet, but I've not stopped looking. Also love the green beer at the local pub. Winning those lucky charm packs would also qualify as my favourite thing about St. Paddy's day. Thanks for the sweet giveaway.

Beth said...

My favorite thing is the yearly t-shirts at Fado Irish Pub. Always kind of cheeky.

I used to love how my mom, a 1st grade teacher, would bring little paper shamrocks to pin to the shirts of kids who forgot to wear green, to help them avoid getting pinched. Such a thoughtful thing to do. Little things mean a lot when you're in the first grade.

I love wearing green! St. Patrick's Day is a boisterous, happy day, and I think they should have a special day for more ethnicities, too! Wouldn't that be fun?

My little ones at school love the stories about the leprechaun and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We have had coins to find and such but this year I did not find any so perhaps the leprechaun won't come to school. We do wear green and talk about what it means to be lucky.
Your winner will be lucky to win those lovely charm packs.
Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway.
Warmest regards,
Anna

I'm a lucky Irish follower, and I usually wear green and pinch folks who don't on St. Patty's day - but this year I'll be traveling back from the AQS Quilt Show in Lancaster PA and I don't think I have a single green thing with me! Ack!!! I think I'd better remedy this....

Great giveaway, by the way - all three of those charm packs are on my "ooh I want that" list!!

While I enjoy green, I'm thinking my favorite things (besides all the thoughts of all things Irish) is that usually at this time of year the Bailey's Irish Cream is on sale. It's one of my few indulgences (must have inherited it from my mother). Yes, I've been following you for quite some time.

Chiska said...

I love that it's green. My Mom used to always color all our food green: eggs, milk--everything. I haven't done that with my kids, but I may start. :) I also love talking with an Irish accent.

Mommarock said...

I think with this holiday, I can pick the parts that I wish to celebrate, like foods I want to eat. I'm not Irish, so I just pick and choose on this holiday.

Pokey said...

I love the "magic" in the classroom during this holiday. I've sprinkled gold glitter on their desks, put a gold coin in their pencil boxes, and read fun leprechaun books every day. We even had a shamrock plant in the room.
When I taught Kindergarten, we would have a tiny letter from "Larry the Leprechaun" that would show up somewhere in the room every day of the week. He would leave them a gift every day, and would mention something that had happened that day at school, just to prove he was "there" with us! Ah, making happy memories for kiddos is great fun!
