a finish and a WIP

This is my first time to swap doing a 12x12 the "Bumble Bee" way.  I was a bit nervous...
at first.  But, once I dug in...I was having a barrel of fun!...yeah, literally digging
out of my scrap "barrel".

Don't be too "hard" on me...I'm still a real beginner when it comes to
machine quilting... =(

I sent this off Tuesday...I hope my swap recipient likes it!

         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
kay...now for the WIP
I really apologize for this picture! It is a photo of a not-so-good photocopy.
(not a "stolen" copy...a free "quilt store" hand-out)
It is pretty in the colors suggested...BUT, well, if you know me...
I've got to change things up a BIT.
Below are my color changes...
...just a weee beeeet diff, right?
While on our "create-your-own" (CYO) shophop when
Pam (Mamasparks) and Pauline (Quilt n Queen) were here in Utah for Quilt Market...
I fell in LUV with this cute VW bug fabric!
Last night while cutting the strips...I decided to switch out the black
for a Kona White.  I think it will look much more summer-eee.
What do you think?
Oh, and a terrible thing happened while cutting...I cut WRONG! OMGosh!
I was so mad at myself...I wanted to just chuck it all in a box.   Then, I thought,
it can't be all that bad...it creates the opportunity to go back to
Thimbles and Threads quilt shop...yipeee! It's one of theee friendliest places in town!
MS. Bea is yelling in the other room..."YOU better NOT take your credit cards!"
She is such a party pooper!
I love scraps....I keep mine in glass candy jars, so I can see them while I sew. They are like eye candy!
Oh the love bug and groovy fabrics - just too cute! We all do those 'oopsies', so no frets. Instead of buying more - challenge your creative side to re-design.
Glad to see you participated in the swap. It was my first swap and I really enjoyed it. Now I have a beautiful piece of art hanging in my sewing room!
Please give me the info for that cute VW Bug print. I haven an antique VW Bug that we turned into a truck in the 1970's for my grandfather. I would love to have some of that fabric.
oh I love your fabric choices. But don't sweat the mistakes, remember DeAnn's words: "There are no mistakes, only DESIGN ELEMENTS". One of the Gems I learned at Fiber Friends....Stitchin Chicks.
YOu stopped by my blog inquiring about a pattern.I got this pattern in a mailing to get me to subscribe to some quilting magazine or another. I can snail mail you a copy if you'd like but it is just HST's. Send your address and I'll mail it this weekend.
I think your swap partner will love it (if she doesn't, I'll be your substitute partner!!) and your quilting is great! Mistakes are sometimes happy-stance! Last night I made a big boo-boo on a placement, so I whacked it in two and made a zippered pouch!
Ooo, VW's, flowers and old 'trendy' words. You're making a hippy quilt! Love the punch that orange outlined flower fabric will give it. The switch from black fabric to white I think is a good idea.
