Working Shop 1

I woke up to this beautiful sky!
O! What a beautiful morning...
I was excited to start the day...'cause it would be my first time!
My first time to "work" at a quilt store.

For this years Wasatch Front Shop Hop, one of the
requirements was that
each store needed to pick a book
and make a quilt with that theme...
This is Thimbles and Threads theme.
This is their AMAZING quilt!!
AMAZING... is an understatement!!

The detail is above and beyond...
Every detail had 3 dimension.

Then, there was several areas of the store that
showcased some of our wonderfully talented local artists.

Like Jill Finley of Jillilly Studios, was actually on hand...
to teach and demo her wonderful applique techniques.
And, show how her unique applique products...

help to make appliques easier...more exact.
She show us a REALLY COOL brand of needles.
(more about the needles in Day 2's post)

Above is one of Cori Blunt's (of Chitter Chatter Designs)
breathtaking applique quilts.  She is also a local artist who
has designed some great quilts! Cori stopped in the shop to get her
passport stamped and visit with us.  She was shop-hopping
with her girls, who also enjoy quilts and sewing
They have their own little business making

Below, is a display of  FUN quilts made by Mary Cown
(a local artist too!).these quilt patterns are...
In her new book...

I worked from 9:30am to 9:00pm was
all SO-SEW fun! I met some of the nicest people!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow and
more adventures...
On The Orient Express!

I'll share more in my next post...about my
Day 2.  =)

Excellent book to chose for a theme on a shop-hop - and their quilt is just fantabulous!! Love 3-D quilts, so much fun, so many things happening thru the quilt: just like looking for clues in a mystery, you have to look at all the details.

What wonderful people on your first day. I would have loved to see Jill in action. Cori and Mary - there really are a lot of wonderful quilters and designers in Utah.

Thank you for sharing and look forward to tomorrow.

Working almost 12 hours should have made you really tired. Glad you are enjoying it. Where I live, we have shop hops all the time, so, they don't have as many neat things going on. We do have themes each time, but, they quit making quilts to go with the theme a long time ago. I'd love to go to your shop hop.

Those are some amazing works of art. I do believe my favorite is the Agatha Christie quilt.

The Agatha Christie quilt is just wow! You sound so energized after working for 12 hours, you must have really found your niche.

Love your sunrise. I'm really jealous of your morning view!

I'm a big Christie fan, so that beautiful quilt is my favorite. Lucky you for being right on the spot.
